Random
I know a lot of very intelligent people (many, incidentally, far from 'urban') who enjoy using the word 'random' so I'm mildly perturbed to note the following from the BBC's piece on 'urban slang'.
random - odd, irregular, crazy, out there. Not used when something is genuinely random, but as an adjective by those who like to think they live a life less ordinary and have a wacky sense of humour. An example from Urban Dictionary reads thus:
Teen 1: "Cheese! hahahaha"
Teen 2: "Wow! That's sooooo random!"

That quote kinda depends on the context. I mean if they'd been in the middle of a conversation about teenage pregnancy and the underproduction of condoms by durex then someone just said 'Cheese. Hahahaha." Then that would be random (ie they just picked a word at random to say and laugh at)........it would certainly register and probly quite highly on the randometer........
of course if the conversation had been "how do you make a good welsh cheese?" "Caerphilly" then laughing at the word cheese, not really very random at all
