At the risk of sounding like an irate panda...
... here are some things that've annoyed (and occasionally amused) me lately:
1. An advert for a used car claiming "immigration forces sale". OK, that one was funny.
2. Cars being advertised with 16' alloys. Or even 17' alloys.
3. Clothes shops with sections signposted "mens", "womens" (or, even, "ladies") and "childrens".

maybe i'm just being intensely stupid, but why are those things annoying/amusing?
OK, well...
1) To attribute the sale of one's car to immigration (entry into a country to which one is not native) seems a ridiculous, Daily Mail-esque argument. (These immigrants coming over here, making us sell our cars). It's much more likely that the advertiser means emigration - that he's moving abroad and is thus forced to sell his car.
2) A much more realistic size for car wheels is 16", not 16'.
3) Men's, women's, ladies', children's. There isn't even any such word as "womens".
... or "mens", or "childrens", of course. "Ladies" is at least a word in its own right.
ah I see... all makes sense now. you're not cuddly enough to be a panda btw
sorry I should rephrase that as you don't look cuddly enough to be a panda, lest people get the wrong impression...
How rude! I'm sure some would disagree. But it was a Lynne Truss reference...
who?
Lynne Truss.
1. Maybe it's being sold on behalf of the immigration forces ;-)
2. It's ye olde system, how can you expect the yoof to be able know the differance.
3. Makes the signs slightly cheaper and most people don't notice.
jonc
1) Fair point, hadn't thought of that.
2) "My car gets forty rods to the hogshead and that's the way I likes it"
3) Sacrifice grammar to save a few pence? What is the country coming to? Etc. etc. signed, Cmdr Horst Pipe (rtd.), Shoreham-by-Sea
